A short review of Victrix VX0010

I think I have bought every plastic set released by Victrix miniatures. And the latest release from them was something I have been looking forward to, a box of artillery!
The box, costing £19.95, contains three guns complete with crew and limbers. The actual box is of the same style as the previous guard grenadiers, thinner and higher. There are three sprues with more space than usual in the box from victrix, each sprue holds one gun with limber and five crew.
I have only put together one gun so far and I must say that they can be difficult to assamble as there are several small and delicate pieces.

The result will look very good and I really like how thin the wheels are. The crew seems to have great potential too.
After a lot of short painting sessions I have now managed to highlight the complete battalion, they are no masterpieces but will serve well on the tabletop!
They still need a coat of dull varnish before they are ready to be based.I have six battalions so far with two more to go but I think I will paint some british units as a change next.

After a few painting sessions I have managed to put all the base colours on them and they look terrible! They will look even worse soon. I have started to use the so called "magic wash", a mix of floor polish and ink. This wash will not only shade the miniatures but also protect them like a coat of varnish.

When all the 28 miniatures have been shaded the real work begins. This larger picture shows how well the details have been blacklined by the wash and also the glossy sheen.

Next up will be the highlighting of all the basecolours.

For the last couple of years I changed from black to white spray.
I will try to use this blogg to document the way I paint plastic 28mm napoleonic miniatures. I have recently started to mix Perry and Victrix with some succes.

This is a mixture of Perry french infantry, Victrix french infantry and Victrix Guard infantry.
